good ol' seminary

today school was just as lame as all other days,
but seminary was super great!!
we learned about John Tanner
i definitely found a new role model.
this man had unremarkable faith, and was given a miracle
in return. when he knew he was going to die because
of a disease in his leg. what happened was he was talking to
missionaries about his testimony of the Book of Mormon.
and  they invited him to be baptized.
because of this leg injury he could not go into the water.
but the missionaries asked, do you believe in the miracles
that have been preformed on injured people, and them
being healed? John answered yes. and the missionaries said
that by their priesthood we command you to walk!
in that very room, he stood up and his leg was healed.
just like that. and he was baptized that night.
he is also one of the best examples of keeping the
law of consecration.
he always gave all that he had. and gave the church
about 50,000 (i think) dollars to pay for expenses
and loans the church had no money for. The prophet Joseph Smith
promised his family that his children would never beg
for bread again. and in my class a fellow student
was a relative of John Tanner. he explained that
to this day, no one in their family has ever begged
for bread. . . .
such a good story. one i will never forget. thats for sure.
really hit home. and because of this and a lesson
i received a couple weeks ago, i have a goal to
make something for someone every sunday.
like cookies, or rolls, jam. that kind of stuff.
just to show my appreciation and thankfulness
of what i have.
what a wonderful lesson i have been taught today.
